The mouth is the beginning of the digestive tract; and, in fact, digestion starts here when taking the first bite of food. Chewing breaks the food into pieces that are more easily digested, while saliva mixes with food to begin the process of breaking it down into a form your body can absorb and use.
Many of the new age medical practitioners are suggesting that dentistry and medicine should be studied together as the mouth and teeth are vital parts of our bodies and digestive system. We hope that in the near future medical universities will teach the two studies as one.
With so much information available to the public, patients are now challenging their doctors´s opinions. Medical students are also making life uncomfortable for their lecturers.
